Here are answers to the questions we get the most from cemeteries researching software. Have a question that's not answered here? Just let us know.

How do you set up the map for our cemetery?

For most projects, our team works completely remotely on the digital mapping. While each cemetery is a bit different, the typical process is as follows:

  1. You electronically send us your mapping information. If your maps are paper based, just take photos with your smartphone and send them to us via email or text message.
  2. We work with you to make sure we understand the layout and any quirks in the mapping that the cemetery may have.
  3. Using our cemetery mapping tools and the information you've provided, we'll create a digital and interactive map of your cemetery, based on your current mapping materials.

With the mapping complete, you'll have an interactive map, with plots that you can add information to. This will also power tools such as our public gravesite lookup, where you can allow families to search and explore the cemetery.

How do we get our records attached to the plots on the map?

Depending on your situation, we'll offer advice and tools to make the records entry portion of the project as easy as possible. If you're short on time and have the budget, we can help manage the transcription process. If you'd prefer to save money and do some of the work yourself, we have spreadsheet templates that help you organize and structure your records digitally. If you already have records in a spreadsheet, database, or system, we'll import them in bulk to save you time.

No matter what method you choose or situation you're in, we will be there to help along the way.

Can you integrate our existing contracts / deeds into the software?
Yes, we can take your existing contracts and deeds and convert them into compatible formats for our software. This will allow you to enter information into our system and print pre-populated contracts / deeds directly from the software.
Do you offer an on-premise (not cloud) based software?
At this point we do not offer an on-premise software package. We think that the cloud/web browser is the best way to deliver software. It offers instant access from anywhere with an internet connection, ongoing backups and removes any need for software maintenance or upgrades. We do offer data backups, so that you can store your underlying data on your server as a backup.
Is mapping required, or can we just use your software for recordkeeping?
Mapping is not required to use Cemify. However, keep in mind that certain features, such as the public gravesite location search, will only work with mapping.
Can we schedule a phone call or demo?
Absolutely. Just send us a message and we'll send you a link to a calendar where you can pick a day that works for you. We'll use the time to discuss the specific needs of your cemetery, show you our software & see if we might be a fit.
