Stockbridge Cemetery Rules and Regulations
Visiting Hours: Dawn to Dusk
- It shall be unlawful for any person to bury or cause to be buried any dead person or persons in the city cemetery without first obtaining from the city a permit for such burial, such permit to contain the name of the deceased person to be buried in the city cemetery, the lot to be used for such grave where the deceased person is to be buried, the name of the person who is the owner of such lot, the date of burial and the name of the funeral home handling the arrangements. - It shall be the responsibility of the funeral director to provide proof that the deceased is entitled to burial in any lot. No deceased person shall be interred in any municipal cemetery until the city clerk has found:
- That the person arranging for such burial has the right to the use of such lot;
- That such lot is not used beyond its capacity; and
- That proper record is made of the name and age of the deceased person and of the exact location of the grave.
- The city clerk and public works director shall be authorized to impose an administrative fee to cover the cost of processing all applications for burials in municipal cemeteries and monitoring compliance with the regulations contained herein.
- Maintain a respectful attitude and volume.
- Help keep the cemetery clean by using the trash cans provided.
- No recreational use of the cemetery or recreational activities such as frisbee or sports.
- Don’t use bicycles, rollerblades, skates or other recreational modes of transport.
- No animals.
- Don’t plant flowers or trees.
- Dead or wilted plants may be removed by maintenance.
- Don’t walk on freshly covered graves.
- Don’t deface or damage graves or tombstones.
