Welcome to Eatonville Memorial Gardens

“The original town cemetery occupied about three acres of land that were donated by Sam Moseley, one of the town’s pioneers and Eatonville’s fifth mayor, and Mr. Weston, a previous slave owner. Among the distinguished persons buried there are Sam Moseley; Joe Clarke, the second mayor; the Rev. John Hurston, third mayor; and members of such prominent Eatonville families as the Bogers, the Westons, the Lesters and the Joneses.

The cemetery remained active until approximately 1931. Eventually, the land fell into the hands of a developer, and this very important resting place of many Eatonville’s pioneers was covered by a small housing development.”

The above history is a quote from “A Walking Tour of Eatonville, Florida”, published August 1999 by Morgan Printing, a Wallace Company.

As of 2020 the Eatonville Memorial Gardens Cemetery is owned and operated by the Eatonville Community Cemetery Association, Inc. The Eatonville Community Cemetery Association, Inc. is a Florida Not for Profit Corporation, and is managed by a board of voluntary directors, non-paid trustees of the corporation and of the cemetery.
